How to Make Ghanaian "Light Soup!"

Hello Loves!

Welcome back. After a long hiatus, I’m so please to return to this creative space by sharing a bit of my own culture with the world. With the upcoming holidays season, I got the chance to sit down with my dad to learn a bit more of my Ghanaian culture through a love of food.

One of the staples of Ghanaian cuisine is “Light Soup.” A mixture of red meat, various seafoods, with savory a tomato base, I’m so grateful to be able to share this special moment in embracing and learning my culture by starting with this West African classic recipe.

As a “diaspora baby,” born in the United States to a West Indian mother and West African father, balancing all the facets of my up-bringing has always been a journey. My blessing? Have family to guide me. Hope you enjoy this latest video!

Natural Hair While Living Abroad in the Middle East - Moisturizing & Perfecting the L.O.C Method

What came after was a month and a half of dry hair, scalp itchiness, and extreme hair shedding. Lesson learned. It was during this time, I restarted what I call "hair bootcamp.” I immediately placed my hair in gentle protective styles to keep it tucked away and implemented what has been called by many “The L.O.C (Liquid - Oil - Cream or Butter)  Method.” In two weeks, my hair stopped itching and shedding. By the end of the month, fullness returned with new length.
