How to Make Ghanaian "Light Soup!"

Hello Loves!

Welcome back. After a long hiatus, I’m so please to return to this creative space by sharing a bit of my own culture with the world. With the upcoming holidays season, I got the chance to sit down with my dad to learn a bit more of my Ghanaian culture through a love of food.

One of the staples of Ghanaian cuisine is “Light Soup.” A mixture of red meat, various seafoods, with savory a tomato base, I’m so grateful to be able to share this special moment in embracing and learning my culture by starting with this West African classic recipe.

As a “diaspora baby,” born in the United States to a West Indian mother and West African father, balancing all the facets of my up-bringing has always been a journey. My blessing? Have family to guide me. Hope you enjoy this latest video!

The Journey Home: Life After Repatriation

Despite some of the difficult experiences I'd had while living in Qatar, the staff at my now former home were always so kind ... Ever present with duplicate key after clumsily locking myself out of my apartment or an unexpected cup of homemade ginger tea after falling ill for months. Their kindness and humanity first welcomed an anxious new traveler nearly two years ago, smoothing over what initially felt like a jarring transition. And now? .... It was all over.
